Vacancy Ethiopian Public Health Association (EPHA)

The Ethiopian Public Health Association (EPHA) is tasked with implementing the Integrated Health System Strengthening Project in collaboration with AMREF. This initiative will be rolled out in selected woredas across Amhara, Oromia, Afar, Sidama, and Somalia regions.

Position 1: National IHSS Coordinator

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Public Health, Health Management, Health Management Information Systems, or Monitoring and Evaluation (health system).
  • At least 10 years of experience in health systems strengthening and program management.
  • Proficient analytical skills with a strong ability to interpret health data.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proven experience collaborating with a range of stakeholders in the healthcare sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Planning: Create and execute strategic plans for enhancing integrated health systems in line with national health objectives.
  • Coordination: Promote collaboration among various stakeholders, including governmental bodies, NGOs, and healthcare institutions, to ensure a unified approach to health system strengthening.
  • Capacity Building: Identify training needs and design programs to improve the skills of healthcare professionals in health systems strengthening.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation: Set up mechanisms to monitor and evaluate the progress and impact of health systems strengthening efforts.
  • Policy Advocacy: Advocate for policies that support integrated health systems and the equitable distribution of healthcare resources.
  • Resource Mobilization: Seek and secure funding opportunities to support health systems strengthening activities.
  • Reporting: Prepare and present regular reports on the status of health systems strengthening efforts, highlighting achievements and challenges to stakeholders.

Position 2: Regional IHSS Officer

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Public Health, Nursing, health officer, or a related health field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in health systems strengthening and program management, or in public/community health.
  • Solid understanding of health systems and healthcare delivery.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Willingness to travel within the assigned Woreda.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Community Engagement: Connect with local communities to assess their healthcare needs and priorities.
  • Program Implementation: Execute health systems strengthening programs at the Woreda level in accordance with national health policies.
  • Data Collection: Gather and analyze health data to guide decision-making and evaluate the effectiveness of health interventions.
  • Training and Capacity Building: Conduct training for healthcare workers and community health volunteers to enhance their skills in health systems strengthening.
  • Collaboration: Work with other healthcare providers, NGOs, and government agencies to ensure a coordinated approach to healthcare delivery.
