Position 1: Gender Specialist
Education:
- Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in Gender Studies or related fields is required. Alternatively,
- A first-level university degree in the mentioned fields with two additional years of relevant experience will be considered.
Experience:
- At least seven (7) years (with Master’s) or nine (9) years (with Bachelor’s) of professional experience in gender equality and women’s empowerment in public, private, or international organizations is required.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the Africa region (global, regional, or national levels) is essential.
Language:
- Fluency in English and French is mandatory.
- Knowledge of another regional language is desirable.
Position 2: Security Information Management Specialist
Education:
- Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in security management, business administration, political/social science, psychology, international relations, or a related field is required.
- A first-level university degree with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.
Experience:
- Minimum of five (5) years (with Master’s) or seven (7) years (with Bachelor’s) of progressively responsible experience in security, risk, or disaster/emergency management in public or private sectors, such as national security, military, police, or corporate environments.
- At least one year of experience in security, humanitarian, or political information analysis.
- At least six months of international experience supporting humanitarian operations.
- UNDSS certification in Security Certification Programme, Security Analysis Process and Practice, or Hostage Incident Management is an asset.
Language:
- Proficiency in written and oral English is required.
- Working knowledge of another UN language is desirable.
Note: Continuance of appointment beyond the initial 12 months is contingent upon successful completion of a probationary period.
Position 3: Project Specialist – Civil Service
Education:
- Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in public administration, pedagogy, public policy, project management, or a related field is required. Alternatively,
- A first-level university degree (Bachelor’s) with two additional years of qualifying experience will be considered.
Experience:
- At least five (5) years (with Master’s) or seven (7) years (with Bachelor’s) of relevant experience in project management and technical advisory services at the national or international level.
- Proficient in advanced computer and office software packages, including Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and internet applications.
- Demonstrated experience in civil service policy analysis and capacity development.
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of Ethiopia, including the civil service and socio-economic context of target regions.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders (civil society, government authorities, local communities, private sector, project staff).
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Hands-on experience in the design, monitoring, evaluation, and impact analysis of civil service reform or relevant projects and programs.
Language:
- Fluency in English and the local language of the duty station is required.
Position 4: Project Specialist – Rule of Law and Justice
Education:
- Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in law, human rights, public policy, political science, or related field is required. Alternatively,
- A first-level university degree (Bachelor’s) in the stated areas with two additional years of qualifying experience will be considered.
Experience:
- At least five (5) years (with Master’s) or seven (7) years (with Bachelor’s) of relevant experience in project management and technical advisory services at the national or international level.
- Proficient in advanced computer and office software packages, including Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and internet applications.
- Demonstrated experience in human rights, access to justice, and rule of law policy analysis and capacity development.
- Proven experience coordinating effectively with diverse stakeholders (civil society, government authorities, local communities, private sector, project staff).
- Hands-on experience in the design, monitoring, evaluation, and impact analysis of rule of law and justice sector projects and programs.
Language:
- Fluency in English and the local language of the duty station is required.
Position 5: Project Specialist – Democratic Governance
Education:
- Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in local governance, peace and security, social science, development studies, political science, sociology, public policy, or related disciplines is required. Alternatively,
- A first-level university degree (Bachelor’s) in the stated areas with two additional years of qualifying experience will be considered.
Experience:
- At least five (5) years (with Master’s) or seven (7) years (with Bachelor’s) of relevant experience in project management and technical advisory services at the national or international level.
- Proficient in advanced computer and office software packages, including Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and internet applications.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Hands-on experience in the design, monitoring, evaluation, and impact analysis of peacebuilding, local governance, or related projects and programs.
- Proven track record of engaging with and coordinating activities involving senior government officials, United Nations, and donors.
