Position 1 – Senior IT Specialist

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Education: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Science, or Information Systems from an accredited institution.
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience managing and supporting IT infrastructure and services, ideally within an international NGO.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows 10, Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2, and networking equipment (routers, firewalls, switches, access points, network printers, NAS devices).
    • Expertise in configuring and troubleshooting business applications/systems and a strong understanding of Google Workspace.
    • Competence in IT service management, video conferencing systems, and customer support.
  • Language: Excellent command of English, both written and spoken.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the execution of all IT tasks within the organization. Identify areas for improvement in daily business operations and propose or implement IT solutions.
  • Manage IT incidents and issues, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
  • Maintain a reliable IT environment, including server room management, ensuring business continuity in case of interruptions.
  • Install, configure, and manage servers, printers, UPS systems, video conferencing equipment, and networking devices.
  • Ensure the security and functionality of wired and wireless LANs to minimize network disruptions.
  • Update and enforce country-specific IT policies and procedures as needed.
  • Set up a secure data backup system, ensuring reliable data restoration in case of loss.
  • Identify IT procurement needs, include them in the fiscal budget, and coordinate with the procurement team for timely acquisition.
  • Maintain records of TechnoServe’s IT assets, including network maps, accounts, system-level passwords, and configuration files.
  • Coordinate local IT activities with regional and global initiatives.
  • Manage internet service provider relationships to ensure timely resolution of connection issues.

User Support

  • Provide IT support to both main and project offices, including resolving technical issues via telephone, email, or on-site assistance.
  • Offer technical support for network connectivity, corporate applications, conference systems, PBX, printers, and other devices.
  • Configure PCs for new staff members, create user accounts, and provide IT training.
  • Assist with the configuration and optimal use of tablets and smartphones.
  • Provide training on new technology and IT systems to build staff capacity.
  • Establish network systems in new branch/project offices.

Position 2 – Business Advisor 2

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Supply Chain Management, Agricultural Economics, Finance, or a related field. Alternatively, 5+ years of relevant work experience can substitute for a degree.
  • Experience: At least 3 to 5 years of professional experience, preferably in the private sector. No prior coffee industry experience is required, as training will be provided.
  • Skills:
    • Strong planning, organizational, and time management abilities.
    • Proficient in computer skills and adaptable to new technologies.
    • Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills.
    • Entrepreneurial mindset with problem-solving abilities.
    • High integrity and self-motivation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support wet mill owners and staff by delivering training on quality processing, sustainability standards, and bookkeeping.
  • Provide business coaching to improve internal management, coffee quality, and profitability.
  • Conduct on-site performance audits and offer feedback on operational costs and benchmarking.
  • Assist clients with compliance to sustainability standards and enhance processing practices.
  • Encourage good management, governance, and the strategic placement of purchasing points.
  • Aid in the implementation of digital bookkeeping and traceability systems.
  • Develop and adapt technical materials such as lesson plans, audit questionnaires, and business profiles.
  • Collect and analyze data on cherry harvest progression, wet mill revenues, expenses, and market prices.

Stakeholder Management and Program Representation

  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders including the Coffee and Tea Authority, Agricultural Office, and Trade Office at the woreda level.
  • Assist in expanding the wet mill program to other woredas and promote gender inclusivity.
  • Act as a program ambassador in the operational area.
