Position: Regional Security Officer

Role Purpose:

• Responsible for overseeing and executing round-the-clock physical and personnel security operations within the designated region.

Key Responsibilities and Decision-Making:

• Supervise all facets of physical, digital, and personnel security for company facilities and personnel within the assigned area, including design, planning, implementation, management, monitoring, and enhancement.

• Manage various security elements such as access control, perimeter security, surveillance systems, physical guarding, backup response, security escorts, event security, security control room operations, and network infrastructure support desk operations.

• Conduct security sweeps, penetration tests, intruder detection, alarm response tests, security surveys, risk assessments, and internal safety audits.

• Provide security and safety advisory support across business units in the designated area.

• Investigate, address, and resolve security issues affecting company assets, including facilities, network equipment/property, personnel, documents, etc.

• Assist company staff in resolving matters requiring intervention from law enforcement agencies.

• Liaise with law enforcement agencies to raise awareness of general insecurity trends and promote personal/residential security awareness among regional company employees.

• Coordinate bi-annual security awareness briefs at all company facilities in collaboration with contracted Security Risk Management Consultants/agencies.

Create budgets and predictions for all security services, both physical and personnel-related, across Safaricom facilities within the specified region.

• Manage the allocated security budget and all security-related projects, ensuring timely cost management and vendor payments.

• Indirectly manage security personnel provided by contractors for service provision within the assigned area.

Required Technical/Professional Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Security Management/Administration or a related technical/business discipline.

• Minimum of four years’ experience in corporate security with significant exposure to management roles.

• Service in the armed forces, ideally not below the rank of “captain” in the military or its equivalent in the police service, would be advantageous.

Comprehensive understanding of Ethiopian legal statutes and governmental directives pertaining to law enforcement.

• Knowledge of the local language is desirable.
