PurposeBlack is an initiative launched in May 2020 by a collective of over 130 Black experts. The mission of PurposeBlack is to economically tackle some of the most pressing issues facing Black communities worldwide. The first model of this global initiative is set to launch in Ethiopia. This groundbreaking approach is an opportunity for Ethiopia and Africa to be at the forefront of a significant international enterprise that aims to benefit millions of Africans.
The PurposeBlack Ethiopia initiative is a multi-billion Birr project that includes the construction and launch of a mega agro-processing complex, an e-commerce marketplace, five hypermarkets, ten large supermarkets, and a network of over a thousand retail and distribution stores throughout Ethiopia.
Position: Graphic Designer
Qualifications:
We are seeking a Graphic Designer for the upcoming BEE Channel (Black Economy Excellence) media production. The ideal candidate will possess:
- Proficiency in graphic design software such as Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.)
- Strong visual design skills, including a solid understanding of layout, typography, color theory, and composition
- Creativity and the ability to generate innovative design concepts
- Technical skills in digital illustration, photo editing, and image manipulation
- Familiarity with web design principles and responsive design for digital platforms
- Attention to detail and precision in work
- Project management and time management skills
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with clients and team members
Additionally, the candidate should hold a Bachelor’s degree, have 3+ years of experience in graphic design, be fluent in English, possess strong writing and communication skills, and be capable of presenting reports, conducting interviews, and implementing strategies effectively.
Responsibilities:
- Meet with clients or stakeholders to understand their design needs and objectives
- Research design trends, competitors, and target audiences to inform the creative process
- Conceptualize and develop visually appealing, on-brand, and functionally effective design solutions
- Create various design assets such as logos, branding materials, advertisements, websites, and product packaging
- Present design concepts and prototypes to clients for feedback and approval
- Incorporate client feedback and revise designs as needed
- Ensure final designs meet technical specifications for print, web, or other mediums
- Manage the production and delivery of approved design projects
- Stay current on design software, techniques, and industry best practices
- Collaborate with other designers, copywriters, developers, and project managers
- Maintain an organized project workflow and meet deadlines
