About Pastoralist Concern (PC):

Pastoralist Concern (PC) is a pastoralist-initiated, -inspired, and -led civil society organization that has been working towards sustainable development in Ethiopia’s pastoralist regions since 1995. Our vision is to see improved and sustainable livelihoods for pastoralist communities in Ethiopia and foster strong cooperation with pastoralist communities in neighboring countries. PC operates in the Somali region, focusing on both multi-sector development programs and emergency response.


Position 1: Health Officer

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Public Health Nursing, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in public health or a related field, preferably in an NGO and similar community setting.
  • Fluency in Somali and English is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Commitment to public health principles and practices.
  • Valid license to practice as a health professional in Ethiopia.
  • Understanding of local language and culture is essential.

Skills:

  • Strong technical knowledge.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and take responsibility for delivering results.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Willingness to live and work in challenging and potentially insecure environments.

Position 2: Health Assistant

Requirements:

  • Diploma in Public Health, Public Health Nursing, or a related field; or 12th-grade education with involvement in health sector extension work.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in public health or a related field, preferably in an NGO and similar community setting.
  • Fluency in Somali and English is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Commitment to public health principles and practices.
  • Valid license to practice as a health professional in Ethiopia.

Skills:

  • Strong technical knowledge.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and take responsibility for delivering results.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Willingness to live and work in challenging and potentially insecure environments.
  • Knowledge of gender and social inclusiveness.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, database management, and PowerPoint.

Position 3: Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) Nurse

Requirements:

  • Registered Nurse with a valid license to practice in Ethiopia.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in maternal and child health or a related field, preferably in an NGO setting.
  • Strong clinical skills in infant and young child feeding practices, including breastfeeding promotion and counseling.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and counseling skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with mothers, caregivers, and healthcare professionals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Fluency in Somali and English is required; proficiency in Amharic is a strong asset.
  • Commitment to cultural sensitivity and improving child health outcomes.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and time management abilities.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., MS Office).
