Medical Teams International (MTI) is a global organization providing medical and dental services across 32 countries. Established in 1979, MTI deploys volunteer medical professionals and supplies to respond to emergencies and collaborates with partners on long-term health improvement projects.


Position 1: Finance Intern (Female only)

Role Overview: The Finance Intern will assist with implementing internal controls for project transactions, ensuring adherence to GAAP, MTI’s Finance Manual, and donor requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Verify that payment requisitions have adequate supporting documents, are mathematically accurate, correctly coded, and authorized as per MTI’s finance manual before processing payments.
  • Contribute to payroll preparation by providing necessary data on absences, separations, new hires, and sick leave.
  • Disburse cash payments with approval from the Field Coordinator or designated authority.
  • Manage office cash, ensuring its secure handling, maintaining accurate records, and timely requests for replenishment.
  • Record all transactions and prepare monthly reconciliations.
  • File finance vouchers and records properly, ensuring they are returned to archives after verification.
  • Assist with HR projects, meetings, and training as assigned.
  • Facilitate orientations for new employees, covering onboarding information and MTI policies.
  • Work with the Admin/HR Officer to post job advertisements and process incoming CVs.
  • Implement and monitor HR and administrative orders, including data updates, staff attendance, and performance reviews.
  • Prepare work timesheets and ensure they are signed by relevant managers.
  • Support the creation of project and financial reports.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent travel to remote health facilities with basic living conditions.

Education, Licenses & Certification:

  • Required: Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (Accounting). A bachelor’s degree is a plus.

Experience:

  • Open to fresh graduates.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Basic understanding of non-profit accounting, payroll, and voucher payment coordination.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with ERP systems and accounting software like Sage or Unit4.
  • Proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft programs including Teams.

Position 2: Finance Officer

  • Provide onboarding for new employees, including MTI policy explanations.

  • Preferred: Experience with ERP systems and accounting software like Sage or Unit4.
  • Proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft programs including Teams.
  • Ability to explain financial processes to non-financial staff.
  • Strong command of English with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Highly organized, with strong quantitative skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks, and a commitment to ethical standards and confidentiality.
