GIZ assists the Ethiopian Government in various sectors, with a growing focus on the Ethiopian lowlands, which constitute nearly 60% of the country’s land area. These regions are home to over 18 million (agro-)pastoralists and individuals engaged in related livelihoods. Population growth and the increasing frequency of extreme weather events have heightened the vulnerability of these communities, their livestock, and crops.
Position: Intern (M&E and Communications Support)
Responsibilities and Main Tasks (Monitoring and Evaluation):
- Assist in the preparation and implementation of tracer studies.
- Support the enhancement of the M&E system using KoboToolbox for quarterly M&E workshops.
- Contribute to the M&E master table (main internal database).
- Help create monitoring briefs (summaries of status and monitoring data for internal use) and develop a template.
- Collaborate with Alex to develop dashboards in MS Excel.
- Provide input for communication products.
- Assist in preparing annual reports.
Qualifications:
- Academic Background: Master’s degree or equivalent in Social Studies, Cultural Studies, Development Studies, Rural Development, or relevant fields, or a bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism, or fine arts with no work experience required.
- Skills:
- Advanced knowledge of MS Excel.
- Advanced knowledge of MS Power BI.
- Familiarity with online survey tools like KoboToolbox is preferred.
- Additional Abilities:
- Ability and willingness to learn and apply defined tools independently.
- Interest in communication tasks and basic knowledge of writing, editing, and design.
- High initiative and a solution-oriented approach.
- Strong teamwork skills.
