Position: Finance Officer
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience, with a minimum of 3 years in a similar role.
- Experience in the NGO sector is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of financial regulations and accounting procedures.
- Excellent analytical and time management skills.
- High attention to detail.
- Proficient in written and verbal communication.
Key Responsibilities:
- Report to the Finance Manager and assist in preparing cash flow forecasts, annual budgets, and other financial documentation.
- Support the finance team in generating financial reports and managing financial operations.
- Reconcile financial and inventory records in consultation with the Finance Manager, cashier, and storekeeper.
- Prepare and verify payment documents to ensure all necessary supporting documents are included before processing payments.
- Handle large volumes of data with precision to produce valuable insights, often under tight deadlines.
- Assist in budget preparation and maintain accurate records and receipts.
- Reconcile daily, monthly, and annual transactions and prepare balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Perform bank reconciliations and process invoices.
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of organizational products and processes.
- Provide customer service and resolve financial disputes in coordination with the customer service and sales teams.
- Serve as a key contact for other departments on financial and accounting issues.
- Support the Finance Manager and executives with various projects and tasks as needed.
- Track bank deposits and payments, assist with budget preparation, and review and implement financial policies.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices, including matching to purchase orders and verifying authorization and coding.
- Provide day-to-day support and training to staff on purchase orders.
- Ensure prompt payment of suppliers through appropriate payment methods (e.g., cheque, BACS).
- Input and reconcile direct payments and supplier statements to purchase ledger accounts.
- Address supplier queries and maintain accurate purchase ledger files.
- Post transactions using Peachtree accounting software and generate necessary reports.
- Assist the Finance Manager with payroll preparation and other payments.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned.
