Plan International is an independent development and humanitarian organization committed to promoting children’s rights and gender equality for girls. We work closely with key African human rights bodies, including the African Committee of Experts on the Rights and Welfare of the Child and the African Commission on Human and People’s Rights, to enhance and safeguard children’s rights across Africa.

Position 1: Child Protection in Emergency (CPiE) Manager

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (MA preferred) in Sociology, Psychology, Social Work, Community Development, Law, Political Science, or related fields.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, including at least 3 years with NGOs.

Languages Required:

  • Fluency in English is essential.
  • Knowledge of Amharic and other local languages is desirable.

Position 2: Economic Strengthening Specialist

Key Responsibilities in Safeguarding Children and Young People (Safeguarding) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI):

  • Implement responsibilities under Safeguarding and GEI policies, ensuring concerns are reported and managed according to procedures.
  • Ensure all staff in the unit/function/department are properly inducted and understand their role in upholding Plan International’s safeguarding and GEI policies.
  • Embed Plan International’s global policies for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Gender Equality and Inclusion in day-to-day work.
  • Ensure Plan Ethiopia contributes to Plan International’s global efforts in safeguarding and GEI, including submitting relevant reports and data.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in international development or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience in economic strengthening/empowerment programming.
  • Strong experience and knowledge in enterprise development, especially SMEs.
  • Previous work experience with USAID is preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment and meet deadlines with attention to detail.
