Overview Islamic Relief is an international charity established in 1984, headquartered in Birmingham, UK. It addresses disasters and emergencies while promoting sustainable economic and social development with local communities, regardless of race, religion, or gender.

Islamic Relief Ethiopia (IRE) Established in 2004, IRE operates in multiple regions:

  • Somali Regional State: Hargelle, Elkere, Bare, Dekasuftu
  • Afar Regional State: Ewa, Gulina
  • Oromia Regional State: Borena, Chiro, Meayso
  • Additional office in Addis Ababa

Position 1: Project Officer

Requirements:

  • Education: BSc Degree in civil engineering or a related field from a recognized university.
  • Experience: Minimum 4 years in relevant areas.
  • Skills:
    • Practical experience in construction/rehabilitation.
    • Management of construction and maintenance of health facilities.
    • Experience managing labor and materials on construction sites.
    • Knowledge of Project Cycle Management (an asset).
    • Proficiency in engineering software like AutoCAD and basic computer skills.
    • Flexibility and ability to work under pressure.
    • Experience working with government partners and structures.
    • Proficiency in English, Amharic, and Afaan Oromo.

Location: Oromia Regional State, West Hararge, Doba

Position 2: PSI Coordinator

Requirements:

  • Education: University degree in Psychology, Sociology, Behavioral Science, International Law, Human Rights, or a related Social Science.
  • Experience:
    • Bachelor’s degree with at least 8 years of relevant experience or Master’s degree with 5 years of relevant experience.
    • Experience in human rights, inclusivity, protection/child protection, and GBV.
    • Experience in GBV prevention, mitigation, and response, as well as broader protection or social work.
    • Experience in emergency or conflict situations (an asset).
  • Skills:
    • Planning and organizing.
    • Communication.
    • Ability to work in a multicultural environment.
    • Interpersonal skills.
    • Advocacy and analytical skills.
    • Teamwork and collaboration.
    • Familiarity with IR programming, rights-based and results-based programming.
    • Understanding of IR policies and strategies for child protection and GBV.

Location: Country Office, Addis Ababa
