Ipas Ethiopia is a leading organization in the region, dedicated to advancing safe abortion services and establishing reproductive health networks that connect women with essential care.

Position: Senior Project Manager

Responsibilities: The Senior Project Manager (SPM) will devise and execute strategies and work plans for the “Improving Access to Reproductive Health and Rights Information and Services” project. The role ensures alignment with project goals and objectives, overseeing activities such as community education, engagement of youth, women, and marginalized groups, and ensuring access to comprehensive abortion care (CAC) and contraceptive (CC) services. The SPM provides technical guidance to project staff, including training in abortion care and family planning, and ensures service quality for diverse groups such as female factory workers, rural women, women with disabilities, and survivors of gender-based violence. Leading a team including gender experts, community advisors, youth leaders, and regional team leads, the SPM collaborates closely with the Country Director to plan, implement, and evaluate activities aimed at achieving program objectives.

Specific Responsibilities:

Project Planning & Management:

  • Lead national-level project planning and implementation.
  • Integrate and oversee activities across thematic areas, develop annual work plans, and manage budgets and resources.
  • Coordinate project activities, monitor progress, and report on outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the Country Director on project adjustments and strategic revisions.
  • Represent the project in senior management discussions, contributing to program decisions and risk management.

Service Delivery Results:

  • Ensure annual work plan targets are met, including numbers of beneficiaries reached, providers trained, and sites offering CAC/CC services.
  • Implement self-care initiatives within CAC/CC services.
  • Monitor equipment and supply availability and maintain quality care systems.
  • Develop and implement training and community education programs as needed.

Supervision:

  • Supervise project staff and consultants, providing guidance, mentoring, and performance reviews.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and reporting of project activities and impact.

Educational Requirements:

  • Medical Doctor (MD) with a Master’s in Public Health (MPH) or related fields.

Experience/Expertise:

  • Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in sexual and reproductive health coordination and leadership.
  • Strong skills in project management, budgeting, implementation, and monitoring.
  • Innovative, collaborative team player with a commitment to reproductive health rights.

Other Qualifications:

  • Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time.
  • Experience in staff and partner management.
  • Commitment to preventing unwanted pregnancies and unsafe abortions.
  • Facilitation and training experience, with attention to detail and integrity.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English.
