The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is one of the largest humanitarian organizations worldwide, dedicated to providing relief, rehabilitation, and development assistance to vulnerable populations in over 30 countries. The IRC commenced its operations in Ethiopia in 2000, responding to the severe drought in the Somali region. Currently, it offers support to both Ethiopians and refugees across six regions, implementing programs in health, water and sanitation, economic recovery and development, women’s protection and empowerment, education, child protection, and multi-sectoral emergency response.

Position: Supply Chain-Transport Assistant

Education and Experience:

  • A Diploma or Degree in Auto Mechanics, Logistics and Transport Management, or a related field from a recognized university, college, or TEVT. A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience for diploma holders; no experience required for degree holders.

Preferred Experience & Skills:

  • Proficient knowledge and experience in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong command of both spoken and written English and Amharic.
  • Attention to detail and strong supervisory skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and work well in a team.
  • Problem-solving skills and the capacity to work independently under pressure.
  • Capability to meet deadlines and maintain a strong sense of personal integrity.
  • Experience in a multicultural environment.
  • Extensive warehouse experience is preferred.
  • Previous experience with NGOs or ERP systems is an advantage.

Major Responsibilities: The Supply Chain-Transport Assistant is a key member of the Supply Chain Department, primarily responsible for fleet management. The incumbent will oversee all aspects of IRC vehicle policies related to travel, movement, and tracking ground transportation, ensuring the safety and security of vehicles and passengers. This role includes coordinating third-party insurance for vehicles and ensuring timely annual inspections. Additionally, the assistant will plan, organize, lead, and manage vehicle movements in coordination with the program team.
