International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) Vacancy

The International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) is dedicated to enhancing food and nutritional security and reducing poverty in developing countries through livestock research. As the only CGIAR research center focused exclusively on animal agriculture for the developing world, ILRI seeks qualified candidates for the following positions:

Position 1: Finance Officer III


Requirements:

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics preferred
Certified Public Accountant recognized by the relevant Ethiopian body
Experience:

Seven years of relevant experience in international organizations or NGOs
Experience in payables accounting and handling audits
Responsibilities:

Manage the country office project budget according to CIFOR-ICRAF grant guidelines and donor requirements
Ensure compliance with CIFOR-ICRAF financial systems and policies
Facilitate and manage travel arrangements for staff, consultants, and partner institutions
Contribute to the development of work plans, annual budgets, and proposals for program/project activities
Manage financial systems, files, and maintain the CIFOR-ICRAF online accounting system
Provide financial oversight, including maintenance and monitoring of the project budget


Position 2: Research Management Coordinator


Education:

MSc or PhD in agroforestry, focusing on soil-water-plant relations in mixed planting/agroforestry systems
Experience:

MSc with ten years or PhD with three years of experience in agroforestry and forestry education, research, and development
Experience with CIFOR projects and understanding of CGIAR organizations
Responsibilities:

Lead the identification of innovations in agroforestry and forestry relevant to Ethiopia
Coordinate capacity building efforts for national partners through seminars and training workshops
Contribute to resource mobilization by writing bankable proposals
Ensure timely and accurate fulfillment of project deliverables, including reporting and communication with stakeholders
Lead and contribute to scientific publications and technical reports
Coordinate evidence gathering and knowledge generation in agroforestry to inform policy and practice
Conduct situational analysis in forestry and agroforestry to develop project ideas and concept notes
Disseminate project results through briefs and presentations at workshops and policy dialogues
Support CIFOR’s efforts in mapping and certifying Ethiopia’s forests and identifying suitable areas for tree planting


Position 3: Research Project Coordinator


Education:

MSc or PhD in tropical forest management with a focus on wood processing industries in Ethiopia and economic impact analysis of the forestry sector, and MSc in Natural Resources Economics
Experience:

MSc with nine years or PhD with two years of experience in forest industry competitiveness, innovation, standards development, trade analysis, and the impact on local livelihoods
Experience with CIFOR-ICRAF projects and understanding of CGIAR organizations
Responsibilities:

Coordinate efforts to identify innovations in forest product processing and marketing
Assist in generating data for estimating the forestry sector’s contribution to the national GDP and valuing forest products and services
Engage the private sector in developing large-scale industrial plantations
Coordinate activities related to forest-based enterprises and wood processing industries
Support forest product value chain and marketing analysis
Facilitate capacity building for national partners through seminars, training workshops, and policy dialogues
Contribute to resource mobilization by writing bankable proposals
Ensure timely and accurate fulfillment of project deliverables
Lead major scientific publications and produce quality technical reports


Position 4: Consultant


Education:

BSc in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Construction, or a related field
Skills:

Proficient in design and visualization software such as AutoCAD and ArchiCAD 3D
Project management and supervision skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Experience:

Five years of relevant experience
Location: Addis Ababa

Position 5: Administrative Associate I


Education:

Diploma in Business Administration, Secretarial Science, Office Management, or a relevant field
Experience:

Two years of relevant experience
Skills:

Proficient in Microsoft Office
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Strong coordination, prioritization, and organizational skills
