Job Title: Information Management Associate (IMA) – Somali Region – Full-Time Contract Position

Location: Jijiga – Somali Region – Ethiopia

Background:

Under a project funded by USAID’s Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance, iMMAP Inc. is committed to delivering tailored information management (IM) support to humanitarian actors responding to the crisis in Ethiopia. As part of this initiative, we have established the Humanitarian Information Support Team (HIST) to address the IM needs of responders. The Information Management Associate (IMA) will join the HIST team in the Somali region to contribute to meeting humanitarian information requirements, reporting directly to the HIST IM Officer (IMO) for the Somali Region.

Responsibilities:

The IMA will collaborate closely with the IMO to develop and deliver high-quality IM service outputs in response to requests from humanitarian responders, as channeled through the HIST service desk. Key responsibilities include:

Infographics:

Creating interactive dashboards for humanitarian purposes tailored to specific sectors or across multiple sectors, integrating data sourced from client clusters or organizations.

Collaborating with humanitarian clusters to produce sector-specific periodic snapshots and factsheets.

Creating funding infographics based on provided data and requirements.

Conducting gap analysis by location and project activities.

Maps:

Generating high-quality map products and online services according to specifications provided by humanitarian clusters or organizations.

Developing cluster-specific location prioritization maps for targeting purposes.

Humanitarian Reports:

Creating regular and on-demand Situation Reports (Sit Rep) by utilizing data from requesting clusters or organizations as well as pertinent sources.

Collecting, consolidating, cleaning, and processing data to produce 3W matrix, summary tables, and visuals.

Creating presentations on humanitarian response activities progress for cluster meetings.

Needs Assessments:

Supporting the design of assessment and needs analysis activities based on cluster or humanitarian organization requests.

Advising on assessment design to ensure data quality.

Managing platforms and tools supporting data collection and analysis.

Data Management:

Designing, developing, and managing databases, spreadsheets, and other data tools.

Consolidating operational information regularly to support analysis.

Ensuring the quality of humanitarian data and contributing to planning and monitoring reports.

Representation:

Attending IM meetings with the iMMAP IMO team, providing updates on ongoing activities, and promoting best practices.

Undertaking other relevant duties as assigned by the line manager.

Capacity Building:

Facilitating high-quality, need-based in-person, virtual, and online IM training sessions.

Providing technical support and mentorship in IM to the humanitarian community in Ethiopia.

Requirements:

Education:

Master’s Degree with 2 years or Bachelor’s degree with 4 years of experience in information management, information systems, computer science, data science, statistics, GIS, or related field.

Experience:

Candidates should possess a minimum of 2 years of experience for MSc or 4 years for BSc in data/information management and analysis, preferably in the humanitarian sector. Prior experience in the Ethiopian humanitarian sector is advantageous. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, is required. Knowledge and practical experience with GIS software (such as ArcGIS, Google Earth, QGIS) and Adobe Illustrator are beneficial. Additionally, experience in database development, designing dashboards and infographics, and providing customer-focused IM support services is desirable.
