Position: Trainee Cost Accountant
Description:
Horra Trading is seeking a motivated recent graduate to join our team as a Trainee Cost Accountant. This role offers substantial learning opportunities in Accounting and Finance. Graduates from 2023/2024 are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing and analyzing monthly cost of goods sold (CoGS), Purchase Price Variance (PPV), and Manufacturing Variance journal entries.
- Aid in the preparation and analysis of excess and obsolete inventory reserves and report findings to management.
- Support data collection and analysis related to material and labor costs to assess operational efficiency.
- Participate in analyzing sourcing costs and prepare reports for management review.
- Examine changes in product design, raw materials, and manufacturing methods to evaluate cost implications.
- Compare actual costs to standard costs through periodic reports and recommend cost-saving measures.
- Compile cost data for operating and budget preparations and expenditure controls.
- Contribute to estimating costs for new and proposed products or services.
- Provide reports on factors affecting pricing and profitability, including cost-benefit analyses for capital expenditures.
- Ensure accurate and timely updates to the company’s fixed asset register.
- Perform additional duties as needed.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting & Finance or Accounting with a minimum CGPA of 3.00.
- Experience: No prior work experience required.
- Skills: Excellent communication abilities, strong relationship management with stakeholders, initiative, adaptability, and a willingness to learn.
- Language: Proficiency in Amharic and English (both written and verbal) is essential.
