The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is seeking a Project Monitoring and Improvement Officer to provide day to day project monitoring and improvement with evidence related support to the country office. This role will be offered on a fixed term contract until December 2026, subject to availability of funding. You will be based in GAIN’s Ethiopia office in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Qualifications
The successful candidate will have substantial experience in monitoring and evaluation, ideally within an international non-governmental organization (INGO). Expertise in data analysis, indicator tracking, and the enhancement of performance monitoring systems is essential. Proficiency in creating interactive dashboards using tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Excel is required. Knowledge of data management and analysis software is also beneficial.
The candidate should have experience in providing M&E training, organizing performance reviews, and facilitating learning events. Practical experience with monitoring and evaluation methodologies, including the development of logical frameworks, results frameworks, theories of change, and conducting assessments and evaluations, is crucial. Strong project management and communication skills are necessary, along with fluency in English and the ability to work effectively in a multicultural and results-oriented environment. Flexibility and willingness to travel are also important.
A bachelor’s degree in social science, development studies, economics, statistics, data science, public health, or a related field is required; a master’s degree in a relevant field is advantageous. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Access) and experience with statistical software and tools such as Kobo, ODK, Google Forms, Survey CTO, or Comcare is necessary for conducting surveys.
Responsibilities
- Assist in developing results frameworks, logical frameworks, and monitoring plans, and facilitate the use of monitoring tools.
- Collect routine monitoring data from implementing agencies and government bodies to track program progress.
- Analyze data and prepare timely reports on monitoring indicators.
- Contribute to data analysis and support dissemination efforts, including drafting reports, briefs, and other materials.
- Develop checklists and coordinate joint monitoring efforts, ensuring smooth planning, monitoring, and report development.
- Draft reports for GAIN, donors, and other partners on program activities as required.
- Oversee the systematic completion and storage of project documents, datasets, and assessment-specific documentation.
- Collaborate with project team members to ensure efficient program planning, monitoring, and improvement processes.
