Ethiopian Airlines Group invites internationally qualified candidates to apply for the position of Executive Chef in our In-flight Catering division. Recognized for its agility and resilience during the COVID-19 crisis, Ethiopian Airlines has partnered with Cainiao to launch a cold chain air freight service for temperature-controlled vaccine transportation. Additionally, Ethiopian Airlines was honored as the leading African carrier at the Decade of Airline Excellence Awards and has expanded its services with new trans-Pacific routes from Incheon to Atlanta via Anchorage as of November 9, 2020.

Position 1: Executive Chef In-flight Catering (Chinese)

  • Education:
    • BA Degree in Hotel Management, Hotel Operation, Restaurant Management, Hotels and Tourism Management, Food Engineering, or a related field from a recognized institution.
    • Minimum 12 years of experience in culinary roles specializing in Chinese cuisine at a large-scale food production facility or a 4/5 star hotel.
    • OR
    • 10+3/College Diploma in food preparation, kitchen operation, foreign dish cooking, confectionery, baking and pastry making, or related fields from a recognized catering institute or vocational school.
    • Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in culinary roles specializing in Chinese cuisine at a large-scale food production facility or a 4/5 star hotel.

Position 2: Executive Chef In-flight Catering (European)

  • Education:
    • BA Degree in Hotel Management, Hotel Operation, Restaurant Management, Hotels and Tourism Management, Food Engineering, or a related field from a recognized institution.
    • Minimum 12 years of experience in culinary roles specializing in European cuisine at a large-scale food production facility or a 4/5 star hotel.
    • OR
    • 10+3/College Diploma in food preparation, kitchen operation, foreign dish cooking, confectionery, baking and pastry making, or related fields from a recognized catering institute or vocational school.
    • Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in culinary roles specializing in European cuisine at a large-scale food production facility or a 4/5 star hotel.

Position 3: Executive Chef In-flight Catering (Middle Eastern/Arabian)

  • Education:
    • BA Degree in Hotel Management, Hotel Operation, Restaurant Management, Hotels and Tourism Management, Food Engineering, or a related field from a recognized institution.
    • Minimum 12 years of experience in culinary roles specializing in Middle Eastern/Arabian cuisine at a large-scale food production facility or a 4/5 star hotel.
    • OR
    • 10+3/College Diploma in food preparation, kitchen operation, foreign dish cooking, confectionery, baking and pastry making, or related fields from a recognized catering institute or vocational school.
    • Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in culinary roles specializing in Middle Eastern/Arabian cuisine at a large-scale food production facility or a 4/5 star hotel.
  • Proficiency in written and verbal English communication
  • Strong computer skills (proficient in office applications)
  • Experience in menu and recipe development
  • Experience in teaching or coaching
  • Leadership experience, ideally in a multicultural setting and managing large teams
