Position: Junior Accountant
Job Summary:
The Junior Accountant, under the guidance of the National Finance Manager, is responsible for daily cash-related activities, particularly cash payments.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Verify the availability of funds for each payment request before initiating payment preparation.
Prepare and remit withholding taxes from funds in accordance with the Income Tax Proclamation.
Ensure timely and accurate settlement of the company’s tax payments.
Manage bank payment transactions.
Handle petty cash disbursements, ensuring compliance with internal control procedures.
Submit bank instruction letters to the banks and track their status.
Prepare cheque payment vouchers and issue cheques for authorized fund requests promptly and in accordance with agreed-upon terms and conditions.
Safeguard the intact deposit of daily cash and cheque collections.
Check for the availability of funds for each processed payment request.
Timely preparation of cheque payments and bank transfers in line with company policies.
Collect appropriate receipts from payees and obtain signatures to confirm cheque collection.
Deduct taxes accurately from payments in accordance with tax regulations.
Maintain an organized filing system for Cash Receipt Vouchers, Cheque Payment Vouchers, and Journal vouchers.
Submit all filed payment documents to the Accounts Payable recording team.
Support external auditors by furnishing the required documents.
Job Requirements
Competencies:
Demonstrate the capability to handle pressure, adhere to deadlines, and uphold a positive demeanor while delivering outstanding customer service.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Degree in Accounting/Finance.
Excellent proficiency in Peachtree Accounting Software.
Strong computer skills.
Experience:
Fresh graduate in Accounting and Finance or related fields.
