The Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI) Ethiopia operates as an independent quasi-institution, accountable to the Ministry of Labor and Skills (MOLS). In 2021, EDI underwent restructuring, amalgamating two entities—the UNDP-supported Entrepreneurship Development Center (EDC), established in February 2013, and the Women Entrepreneurship Development Project (WEDP), funded by the World Bank and established in December 2012.

Position: Junior Project Officer

Scope of Work:

Reporting directly to the Project Coordinator, the incumbent will be responsible for overseeing the overall facilitation of project activities, including providing support to SMEs and BDSPs during the onboarding and matchmaking processes. The job holder will also assist the project coordinator and other team members in efficiently executing project activities.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

The Junior Project Officer’s responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Supporting outreach activities to onboard SMEs into the voucher program

Organizing orientation workshops and information sessions for SMEs on voucher eligibility and application

Providing translation assistance to SMEs for program guidelines and agreements

Guiding SMEs through the registration and application process, assisting with form filling, and selecting BDSPs from the BDS portal

Supporting SMEs in evaluating and selecting suitable BDS providers based on their needs

Facilitating linkages between SMEs and shortlisted BDS suppliers for service delivery

Conducting verification checks on SMEs per program guidelines before voucher allocation

Maintaining regular communication with SMEs to support voucher utilization

Assisting senior project staff in monitoring and data collection from SMEs

Addressing operational queries and providing handholding support to SMEs

Supporting the organization of meetings, events, and forums for SMEs and partners

Maintaining program databases, records, and documentation related to SMEs

Preparing weekly/monthly reports on outreach progress and challenges

Providing feedback to identify areas for improvement in SME engagement processes

Efficiently executing any other tasks and responsibilities required by the Project Coordinator and other project members.

Reports To: Project Coordinator

Duration of Contract: Initial term of 9 months, with potential for renewal.

Job Requirements:

Required Qualification:

BA/BSc Degree in any field

0-1 years of experience

Prior experience in training, BDS, M&E, data collection, analysis, report writing, project coordination, and facilitation would be advantageous

Certificate of Entrepreneurship Training Workshop (ETW) or BDS offered by EDI Ethiopia would be a plus.

Skills and Knowledge:

Strong motivation and enthusiasm for acquiring and honing new skills

Capability to operate autonomously with limited guidance

Readiness to proactively take charge of assigned responsibilities

Dedication to comprehending project goals and significance

Drive to enhance skills and capabilities within the designated role
