Development for Peace Organization (DPO) is an Ethiopian civil society organization founded in 2020. Its mission is to address the humanitarian and developmental needs of communities, irrespective of race, color, religion, or cultural background. DPO is legally registered to operate in Ethiopia (Reg. 5164), South Sudan (Reg. 4178), Kenya (OP.218/051/22-400/12732), and Somalia (Reg. NGOD/Moifar0422/022), and is in the process of registering in Yemen.

Position 1: WaSH Officer/Engineer

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Water Supply and Environmental Engineering, Water Resources and Hydraulic Engineering, Water Resources and Irrigation Engineering, Sanitary Engineering, or Environmental Health.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience.
  • Commitment to DPO’s mission to improve quality of life through health interventions and capacity building.
  • Proficiency in English and local languages (spoken and written).
  • Skilled in using AutoCAD/Civil3D and EPANET/Water CAD/Water Gems software.
  • Ability to work in challenging conditions with a multicultural team.

Location: Somali Regional State

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the focal point for all WaSH-related activities.
  • Conduct needs assessments, and participate in the planning, organizing, and implementation of WaSH programs.
  • Prepare designs, drawings, BoQs, and specifications for water points, schemes, pipe systems, and sanitary infrastructures.
  • Optimize designs for water supply infrastructures, including pipe layouts, electromechanical equipment, and storage tanks.
  • Supervise and monitor construction and maintenance of water and sanitary facilities.
  • Provide bi-weekly updates on the emergency WaSH situation in the Woreda.
  • Facilitate the development and dissemination of hygiene educational materials.
  • Mobilize community participation in water scheme rehabilitation and construction, promote latrine use, and manage village and household waste.
  • Coordinate with government sector offices, other NGOs, and GOs.
  • Organize and facilitate WaSHCo and hygiene promotion training sessions and workshops.
  • Document health-related data and maintain records of hygiene promotion and sanitation activities.

Position 2: Project Coordinator

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field from a recognized university.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience, preferably in an NGO setting.
  • At least 3 years of management experience in humanitarian response for WaSH, Shelter/NFI, Agriculture, and Protection Programs.
  • 2 years of experience in managing and coordinating multisectoral programs/projects.
  • Previous experience in coordinating multi-sector interventions.
  • Knowledge of emergency management and current contexts.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong communication, networking, and representation skills.

Position 3: Shelter & NFI Officer

Requirements:

  • University degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Water Supply/Resources Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of practical experience in construction supervision with humanitarian organizations or NGOs in complex and volatile contexts.
  • Knowledge of the operating context in the Somali Region.
  • Proficiency in local languages is mandatory.
  • Experience using design software such as AutoCAD or Civil3D, and statistical packages.
  • Familiarity with SPHERE standards.
  • Experience working in humanitarian/recovery contexts.

Position 4: Senior Human Resource Officer

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience for BA holders, 5 years for Diploma holders.
  • Location: Addis Ababa
