The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is an international humanitarian organization that focuses on supporting displaced individuals and communities affected by conflict, violence, and disasters. Established in 1956, DRC has grown to become one of the largest humanitarian NGOs in the world, with operations in more than 30 countries. Its mission is to protect and advocate for the rights of refugees, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and asylum seekers, and to help them rebuild their lives by providing vital assistance in areas such as shelter, education, protection, food security, and livelihoods.

Position 1: HINGO Engagement Coordinator

Experience and Technical Competencies:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant humanitarian experience, with a focus on coordination, advocacy, and/or communication in areas such as humanitarian issues, refugee rights, human rights, and/or development.
  • In-depth understanding of Ethiopia’s political landscape and the broader Horn of Africa region, including familiarity with key stakeholders from government, the UN, NGOs, and civil society.
  • Proven experience in using communication tools and technologies to engage with and influence stakeholders effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to use surveys, data collection, and information management for stakeholder engagement and influence.
  • Strong track record in creating content in various formats (articles, press releases, websites, photos, success stories, blog posts, tweets, etc.) tailored to different audiences.
  • Outstanding writing and editing skills in English, with the ability to convey technical information clearly and engagingly.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to connect with diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; knowledge of Adobe software is a plus.
  • Fluency in English (both written and oral) is required.
  • Full professional proficiency in Amharic (oral) is required; knowledge of other Ethiopian regional languages is advantageous.

Education:

  • Master’s degree in International Law, Human Rights, Political Science, Peace & Conflict Studies, History, Disaster Management, or a related field. A lower degree may be accepted with extensive relevant work experience.

Languages:

  • Excellent command of English and Amharic, both written and spoken.

Position 2: Budgeting and Reporting Coordinator

Location: Addis Ababa

Experience and Technical Competencies:

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in finance-related roles.
  • At least 3 years of experience working with INGOs.
  • Proven expertise in managing finances for projects funded by humanitarian donors.
  • Strong knowledge of financial compliance and procedures.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to perform well under pressure.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.

Languages:

  • Excellent written and spoken English is essential.
  • Knowledge of Amharic is an asset.
