Job Title: Manager of Public Affairs and Communications

Primary Objective:

The Manager of Public Affairs and Communications will be tasked with formulating and executing internal and external communication strategies for the organization. The primary goal is to ensure consistent and positive messaging that defines and promotes the company’s identity and mission. Moreover, the position requires overseeing the regulatory environment and actively involving stakeholders to address and minimize potential business risks and threats.This position reports to both the Legal Counsel and the Director of Public Affairs and Communications.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and implement effective communication strategies to enhance company reputation.

Lead company events and significant interventions.

Cultivate and sustain high-level relationships with various stakeholders and representatives.

Manage the company’s social media networks.

Support the Legal Counsel and Public Affairs and Communications Director in identifying and managing key regulatory threats.

Monitor national, provincial, and local regulations continuously and relay regulatory requirements.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications and Experience:

A First Degree in Journalism, English Language and Literature, Public Relations, Law, or another field related to Business or Social Science.

A minimum of five years of relevant experience in Public Affairs & Communication and regulatory matters, with at least three years in a managerial or supervisory role.

Strong skills in written and verbal communication.

Significant exposure to government relations, liaison, media relations, corporate social responsibility, and communications.

Qualifications, Expertise, and Education:

Possession of a primary degree in Human Resources, Management, or a related field of study, coupled with a minimum of 3 years of pertinent experience in Human Resource Management.

Roles and Responsibilities:

HR Administration and Query Resolution

Adherence to procurement policies and practices.
Handling HR queries efficiently and professionally.
Referring complex queries to HRBP or Specialist Learning & Development.
Promptly forwarding payroll-related information to the payroll team.
Processing and administering loan applications, ensuring compliance with application protocols.

Representing HR in interviews when necessary and supporting onboarding of new employees.
Learning & Development Support

Assisting the Learning & Development Specialist with administrative tasks, venue coordination, and stakeholder liaison for training delivery.
Supporting the collection and administration of study assistance and bursary applications.
General Office Administration

Overseeing day-to-day office administrative functions to ensure timely and accurate handling of documentation.
Managing telephone calls, rerouting them with minimal inconvenience to customers.
Ensuring all administrative activities meet company standards and customer requirements.
HR Reporting

Generating HR reports, analyzing trends, and providing timely and accurate reports to customers.
Ensuring reports meet customer standards and specific needs outlined by the HRBP.
Positive Service Culture

Contributing to the maintenance of a positive service culture.
Treating all customers with respect and dignity.
Ensuring requests are completed accurately, legibly, and within the specified timeframe.
