Position 1: Finance Officer 1

Location: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
Deadline: September 16, 2024

Job Summary: The Finance Officer will manage daily accounting tasks for USAID’s Act to End NTDs | East program and other RTI projects in Ethiopia. Responsibilities include posting transactions in QuickBooks, uploading documentation, managing staff advances, accounting for VAT receivables and tax liabilities, preparing monthly payroll, and processing activity payments. This role requires frequent travel (up to 40%) to regions such as Oromia, Gambella, Benishangul Gumuz, and Tigray.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Finance Manager with daily financial operations.
  • Assist in preparing bi-weekly cash management requests and forecasts.
  • Handle CPV, PCPV, CRV, and JV preparation.
  • Manage staff cash advances and reconciliations.
  • Process income tax, pension, and provident fund payments.
  • Reconcile VAT receivables, income tax, and other payable accounts monthly.
  • Aid in compiling and submitting monthly financial reports.
  • Prepare checks and payment vouchers for vendors, consultants, and staff.
  • Ensure clearance of previous advances before approving new ones.
  • Update budget versus actual (BVA) reports monthly.
  • Review purchase requisitions in the Finance Manager’s absence.
  • Maintain and audit petty cash logs weekly.
  • Follow up on advances pending over 30 days.
  • Prepare journal vouchers to resolve financial reporting issues.
  • Confirm proper authorization and documentation for all expenses.
  • Disburse per diems for workshops and collect relevant documentation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Finance Manager.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance or related field.
  • 1 year of experience for Master’s degree or 3 years for Bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience with USAID projects preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and QuickBooks.
  • Ability to multitask, work independently, and communicate effectively.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.

Qualifications:
