Development for Peace Organization (DPO) is an Ethiopian non-profit organization founded in 2020, dedicated to addressing humanitarian and developmental needs across various societies, irrespective of race, color, religion, or cultural background. DPO is legally registered as a National NGO in Ethiopia (Reg. 5164) and as an INGO in South Sudan (Reg. 4178), Somalia (Reg. NGOD/Moifar0422/022), and Kenya (OP.218/051/22-400/12732). Additionally, registration is in progress in Yemen. We are currently looking for a motivated Junior Environmental Health Professional to join our mission-driven team.

Position 1: Junior Environmental Health Professional

Job Summary:

  • The Junior Environmental Health Professional will be responsible for supporting the implementation of hygiene, sanitation promotion, and water supply activities, ensuring the use of appropriate hygiene promotion strategies and fostering community engagement in various outbreak response initiatives.
  • The role also involves community mobilization and the promotion of public health preventive measures, including sanitation campaigns.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the planning, execution, monitoring, and evaluation stages of water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) projects, as well as outbreak prevention activities.
  • Deliver capacity-building training sessions for healthcare workers, community health workers, and rapid response teams.
  • Actively participate in risk communication and community engagement efforts related to outbreak prevention and response.
  • Coordinate and lead hygiene promotion activities aimed at driving social and behavioral change.
  • Organize and conduct hygiene and sanitation campaigns in collaboration with partners and refugee communities.
  • Develop activity plans, procurement strategies, and spending plans for cholera outbreak response activities.
  • Participate in WASH-related needs assessments and develop actionable plans for effective hygiene and sanitation promotion.
  • Assist in the design and production of hygiene Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials.
  • Maintain accurate health/WASH data, records, and share lessons learned.

Qualifications:

  • Education: BSc in Environmental Health Science from an accredited institution, with a valid license to practice in Ethiopia.
  • Experience: Minimum of two years of relevant experience.

Position 2: Logistics Assistant

Job Summary:

  • The Logistics Assistant will report to the Medical Director and will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day logistics operations, including fleet management and office management, related to the Pinyudo Regional activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Receive and inspect all incoming materials, ensuring they meet the required standards, including packaging, expiry dates, and part/serial/model numbers.
  • Reconcile received items with purchase orders, process, distribute documentation, and report any discrepancies or damages.
  • Issue goods following proper store regulations, ensuring that items are issued based on the first-in, first-out principle, and that goods nearing expiry are prioritized.
  • Maintain accurate and secure records of all stored items, including ledgers, bin cards, waybills, and release books.
  • Participate actively in stock-taking exercises and ensure proper documentation of all transactions.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Logistics Management, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of two years for a BA, and three years for a Diploma.

Position 3: Warehouse Assistant

Job Summary:

  • The Warehouse Assistant will oversee the efficient receipt, storage, and dispatch of various goods, including food, clothing, healthcare products, and household items, to support projects and programs. The Assistant will ensure compliance with DPO and donor policies and procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the quality of materials received in the warehouse meets specified standards, in close coordination with the Medical Director.
  • Review daily and weekly stock flows, and submit regular reports to the Medical Director.
  • Make recommendations for restocking needed materials when stock levels are low.
  • Ensure materials are handled safely by workers to prevent injuries.
  • Prepare and maintain records of Good Receive Notes (GRN) and Good Release Notes for incoming and outgoing materials.
  • Monitor resource usage and storage, and perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Assist in the timely submission of all financial documents to the finance department.

Qualifications:

  • Education: BA or College Diploma in Purchasing and Store Management, Supplies Management, or Management.
  • Experience: Minimum of two years for a BA, and three years for a Diploma.
