Lawyers for Human Rights (LHR) is a civil society organization based in Ethiopia, officially re-registered on September 19, 2019, under Proclamation No. 1113/2019 by the FDRE Civil Societies Organizations Agency. The organization’s goals include enhancing lawyer involvement in human rights through training and capacity-building activities, supporting legal professionals nationwide, facilitating the exchange of ideas and information for improved human rights protection, and engaging in strategic litigation to uphold human rights as outlined in the FDRE Constitution and other relevant laws.

Professional Competencies:
- Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB), with no prior work experience required.
- Knowledge of the Ethiopian legal system, criminal justice system, criminal and procedural laws, constitutional rights related to legal aid, and national and international legal frameworks for the rights of individuals in police custody.

- Ability to clearly explain legal issues.
- Commitment to justice, fairness, and human rights.
- Skill in prioritizing tasks, managing multiple responsibilities, and meeting deadlines.
- Capability to work efficiently under pressure with minimal supervision.
- Proactive, goal-oriented, and results-focused.
- Adaptability and creativity.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in English and Amharic is required.
- Computer literacy and internet skills.
- Strong documentation abilities.
