About Danish Refugee Council (DRC)

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is an international non-governmental organization (NGO) that has been offering relief and development services in the Horn of Africa since 1997. With operations in Ethiopia since 2009, DRC works to address the needs of refugees, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and migrants. Supported by bilateral and multilateral donors, DRC undertakes a variety of activities in Ethiopia, including WASH and shelter provision, child and youth protection, gender-based violence response, migration risk awareness, protection monitoring of migration routes, and livelihood support for returning or at-risk migrants.

Role Overview

The Country Human Resources and Administration Manager will lead and manage the HR and administrative functions at the country office. This role involves providing comprehensive advice, coordination, and management of the HR and Administration team, as well as offering technical HR support to field offices. The position ensures efficient support to the program in alignment with DRC policies and procedures.

Experience and Technical Competencies
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience, including at least 2 years in a senior HR and Administration management role within an NGO.
  • At least 3 years of people management experience.
  • Proven leadership skills and expertise in people management.
  • In-depth understanding and practical knowledge of HR management principles, concepts, and processes.
  • Extensive knowledge of local labor law.
  • Proficiency in handling and advising on complex people management issues.
  • Experience in developing and implementing HR strategies and policies.
  • Familiarity with using online recruitment systems.
Education
  • Master’s degree or postgraduate qualification in Human Resources or Business Administration.

Language Requirements

  • Fluency in Amharic.
  • Full professional proficiency in English.
