The World Bank Ethiopia Country Office is seeking up to three (3) short-term consultants to assist with energy sector initiatives in Ethiopia. These roles are based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and are open to Ethiopian nationals.

The World Bank’s ongoing energy projects in Ethiopia include support for power sector reforms, investment in power transmission, distribution, and grid electrification, solar mini-grids, standalone solar systems for households and communities, clean cooking solutions and improved cook stoves, and interconnections with neighboring countries to integrate Ethiopia into the regional electricity network.

Position 1: Senior IT Assistant, Client Services

Selection Criteria:

  • Bachelor’s degree with no experience required or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Strong knowledge of IT technologies including Windows platform, Microsoft Office, MFD, servers, and smartphones.
  • Excellent client service skills with the ability to work under pressure, maintaining accuracy and professionalism.
  • Understanding of Microsoft Active Directory, DNS services, and other networking technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of IT service management and experience with ITIL best practices for helpdesk services.
  • Proficiency in recent Microsoft Windows applications.
  • In-depth knowledge of M365 applications.
  • Knowledge of network communication technologies and WAN/LAN products.
  • Familiarity with IP telephony and troubleshooting.
  • Experience setting up and supporting videoconference facilities.
  • Comfort using remote access technologies and remote troubleshooting.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to listen, describe problems clearly, and propose solutions.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • General knowledge of the mission and business requirements of the World Bank Group.
  • Proven ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Position 2: IT Analyst, Client Services

Selection Criteria:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with 2 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Advanced skills in supporting Windows desktops, VPNs, and Apple mobile devices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft suite products, including Office365, Outlook, SharePoint, OneDrive on mobile and PC, and browser-based applications.
  • Advanced skills with virtual meeting tools, including Cisco WebEx, Jabber, MS Teams, and Zoom.
  • ITIL4+ certification and experience in incident management using the ServiceNow system, adhering to agreed SLAs and quality metrics.
  • Experience supporting VIP clients with the temperament to handle urgent requests.
  • Strong communication skills to conduct training on IT products and engage with clients in a multicultural environment.
