Union of Ethiopian Women and Children Associations (UEWCA) is an alliance of 88 local Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in Ethiopia, founded in 2010. It operates as a non-governmental, non-political, and non-religious entity, dedicated to advancing the empowerment and gender equality of women, girls, and children. UEWCA is registered with the FDRE Authority for Civil Society Organizations under registration number 1482, located in Addis Ababa.

Position 1: Senior Accountant

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a project accountant in an NGO or humanitarian organization.
  • Strong knowledge of financial management principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office applications.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
  • Strong communication skills in English and Amharic.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee project finances, including budgeting, accounting, and reporting.
  • Maintain accurate financial records such as invoices and financial statements.
  • Monitor project expenditures to ensure compliance with budgets and donor requirements.
  • Coordinate with project staff to enforce financial policies and procedures.
  • Assist in preparing financial plans and budgets.
  • Ensure timely submission of financial reports to stakeholders.

Duration: One year, with possible extension based on funding availability.

Location: Addis Ababa, UEWCA Head Office

Position 2: GBV Protection Officer

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Gender Studies, Law, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in gender, GBV prevention and response, ideally in humanitarian contexts.
  • Strong understanding of GBV, legal support, case management, and psychosocial support principles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in English and Amharic.
  • Willingness to travel within Amhara Regional State.
  • Report writing and management skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate GBV prevention and response activities.
  • Guide case management and psychosocial support for GBV survivors with confidentiality.
  • Provide technical support for community outreach and awareness sessions.
  • Collaborate with local authorities and stakeholders to enhance GBV protection.
  • Ensure accurate reporting of project activities and outcomes.
  • Conduct capacity-building activities for project teams and community groups.
  • Evaluate GBV interventions and recommend improvements.
  • Liaise with implementing partners, local government, and stakeholders.
  • Develop advocacy strategies to influence GBV-related policy changes.
  • Manage communication efforts and media engagement.

Duration: One year, with possible extension based on funding.
