Established in 2007, Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) is a national developmental and humanitarian organization dedicated to creating a better future for children, youth, and women.

Position 1: GBV Case Workers

Qualifications:

  • MA/MSc/BA/BSc in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or related fields
  • Minimum of 2 years of direct experience providing case management and psychosocial support services to GBV survivors, preferably in humanitarian or development contexts
  • Job location: Finote Selam, West Gojjam Zone, Debre Markos, and Machakel, Amhara Region

Responsibilities:

  • Provide quality health and psychosocial support to survivors
  • Develop functional referral networks for confidential, safe, and timely services
  • Oversee case management and psychosocial support services
  • Implement basic psychosocial support activities at outreach sites and local partners
  • Document GBV incidents and referrals using appropriate forms
  • Strengthen referral networks and monitor implementation
  • Adhere to GBV guiding principles and survivor-centered care
  • Develop and implement age-appropriate emotional and social support activities
  • Collaborate with the Protection Officer to plan and disseminate GBV key messages

Position 2: Secretary Cashier

Qualifications:

  • Diploma/BA in Secretarial Studies, Accounting, or related fields with 2+ years of experience
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Access
  • Good report writing skills, attention to detail, and deadline-oriented
  • NGO experience preferred

Required Skills:

  • Strong communication and administrative skills
  • Proficiency in Excel is mandatory

Responsibilities:

  • Handle secretarial activities under the supervision of the project coordinator
  • Type correspondences, reports, and minutes
  • Check the accuracy of outgoing communications
  • Draft routine business correspondences
  • Manage visitor screening, appointment scheduling, and communication
  • Maintain and organize files and records
  • Operate office machines like photocopiers, fax, and email
  • Maintain project employment records and office cleanliness

Position 3: Project Finance Officer

Qualifications:

  • BA in Accounting, Finance, or related fields
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in project finance management, budgeting, and financial reporting, preferably in humanitarian or development contexts
  • Proficiency in computer-based financial reporting

Required Skills:

  • Peachtree software proficiency preferred
  • Mandatory proficiency in Excel
  • Strong communication and administrative skills
  • Training on IPSAS is an added value

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and control general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, expense reports, and payroll
  • Reconcile financial statements and bank reconciliations monthly
  • Prepare financial reports monthly, quarterly, and annually
  • Assist in budget planning, modification, and forecasting
  • Ensure expenditure reports are reconciled with accounting records
  • Facilitate project administration matters, including procurement and close-out

Position 4: Protection Coordinator

Qualifications:

  • MA/MBA/BA in Social Work, Psychology, Gender Studies, Sociology, or related fields
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience for MA/MBA or 5 years for BA/BSc in GBV prevention, response, and/or protection programs, preferably in conflict-affected/humanitarian settings
  • NGO experience preferred

Skills and Competencies:

  • Program management, stakeholder management, ethical behavior, relationship building, effective communication, innovation, teamwork, organizational skills, planning, problem-solving, reporting, self-management, and gender sensitivity

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure timely and high-quality project implementation with regular follow-up
  • Identify capacity-building needs of field staff and propose skill enhancement strategies
  • Collaborate with Finance and Admin for planning and budgeting
  • Monitor program implementations with action plans
  • Develop and submit action plans and updates
  • Adhere to internal policies and program management standards
  • Monitor program and financial status and ensure sound financial controls
  • Represent ESD’s interests with external stakeholders
  • Organize appraisal workshops before project implementation
  • Ensure proper documentation of projects
