We are pleased to announce an opportunity within the Technology Function. To meet our current business requirements, we are seeking an individual who fits the criteria outlined below.

Position: Senior Accountant

Education & Experience:

A bachelor’s degree in business, legal, or Accounting & Finance

Achievement of a recognized professional qualification such as CPA, ACCA, or similar accreditation in accounting or taxation.

Five years of hands-on experience in advancing roles within tax finance, encompassing responsibilities in tax reporting, regulatory adherence, and financial accounting.

In-depth expertise and technical knowledge of tax accounting and disclosures for accounting & reporting purposes

Experience in proactive management of tax issues, staying updated with changes in the regulatory environment, and dealing with Tax Authorities will be an added advantage.

Key accountabilities and decision ownership:

Ensure timely preparation and submission of monthly tax returns (VAT, withholding tax, Income Tax, and Pension) to the Ministry of Revenue, including payment of corresponding tax liabilities.

Assist in promptly reconciling general ledger accounts related to taxes and collaborate with stakeholders to address any discrepancies identified on a monthly basis.

Assist in monthly tax computation & accurate reporting with input from all business touchpoints.

Ensure adequate analysis, compilation, and presentation of supporting information required by Revenue Authority periodic information requirements and other audits in collaboration with relevant information sources.

Assist in reviewing new business initiatives and assessing any impacts on existing transaction tax calculation processes and system setups.

Research and address tax queries and related tasks assigned regarding tax compliance and optimization.

Actively participate in projects from design to delivery and subsequent performance monitoring and reporting.

Collaborate with and, where necessary, support regular and relevant training for finance staff and business partners to mitigate tax exposures within the management’s environment.

Proactively advise and support the broader business in providing and coordinating tax advice on the implications of operational transactions and ad hoc projects as required.

Establish a well-structured process and digital system for company documents and manage all other files and records to meet all regulatory and statutory obligations.

Support the maintenance of a well-designed centralized registry that supports all company information assets necessary for tax compliance.

Establish and maintain accurate and reliable databases of processed documents to ensure efficient and controlled retrieval, capture, storage, and retrieval structure.

Develop a framework and policy for document information management and supporting procedures to ensure compliance across the business.

Support tax invoice collation and filing as per defined procedure each month.

Assist in establishing training programs for key business stakeholders regularly to build capacity, enhance document management awareness, and mitigate risks.

Labeling and entering file information on a spreadsheet or portal developed to manage document processing.

Maintain document handling facilities in the required state to support document retrieval, use, and maintenance processes.
