The International Rescue Committee (IRC), a leading global NGO dedicated to humanitarian efforts, provides assistance, rehabilitation, and development support to vulnerable individuals and communities across more than 30 countries. Our involvement in Ethiopia began in 2000 as a response to severe drought in the Somali region. Currently, we are actively aiding Ethiopians and refugees in six regions, implementing emergency and development programs in health, water and sanitation, economic recovery, women’s protection and empowerment, education, child protection, and multi-sectoral emergency response.
Position 1: Environmental Health Assistant
Job Requirements:
Degree/Diploma in Water Supply Technician, Construction, Water Engineering, or a related field.
Experience in leading labor and materials at construction sites.
Experience in mobilizing communities to facilitate local labor and building materials during construction.
Educational Requirements:
2 years of experience for diploma holders or no prior work experience for first-degree holders.
A minimum of six months of IRC Internship service is a plus.
NGO experience is advantageous.
Preferred Expertise & Skills:
Basic computer knowledge (Word, Excel).
Basic proficiency in spoken and written English.
Strong communication and social skills.
Language Skills:
Proficient in the local language and English.

Position 2: Junior Environmental Health Agent
Job Requirements:
Community mobilization skills.
Primary schooling completion certificate up to 6 grades.
Ability to understand oral and written instructions and perform simple tasks.
Basic writing and reading skills.
At least one year of experience.
Preferred Experience & Skills:
Good communication with clients and staff.
NGO experience or related experience is a plus.
Proven capability to collaborate efficiently with kebele-level authorities.
Language Proficiency:
A requirement for proficiency in the local language, ‘Sidamu Affoo.’
