Hilina Enriched Foods, established by Mr. Belete Beyene and his family, originated from his three-decade leadership of the Government-owned Faffa Foods, a food processing company in Ethiopia. After recognizing the prevalent issue of malnutrition in Ethiopia, Mr. Belete founded Hilina Foods in 1998 to process locally available grains and enhance flours to combat malnutrition. In 2006, Mr. Belete discovered the innovative product “Plumpy Nut” (RUTF) through UNICEF, aligning perfectly with his commitment to addressing malnutrition.
Position: Quality Supervisor
Education: BSc in food science/food processing engineering/food technology/applied chemistry/applied biology, or a related field
Experience: 0 years (Knowledge of HACCP and ISO 22000 preferred)
Job Description:
- Conduct physical inspections of materials and processes.
- Verify cleanliness and dryness of the track during reception.
- Take representative samples based on provided instructions.
- Monitor storage conditions of raw materials or packing materials.
- Ensure proper placement of ingredients, posters, and handwashing facilities.
- Inspect cleanliness of production rooms, kits, stores, washing areas, and personnel.
- Verify proper weighing and mixing of ingredients.
- Check temperature readings during production to ensure they fall within the specified range.
- Confirm availability of rodent baits, inspect and record rodent activity, and report to the Deputy Quality Head.
- Calibrate working mass balances using standard weights and record deviations.
- Collect, code, and send representative samples of finished products, raw materials, and inputs to the lab.
- Daily check hygiene of employees and environment, reporting to the Deputy Quality Head.
- Ensure compliance with quality management regulations and procedures.
- Verify that all personnel involved in processing operations adhere to quality-conscious practices.
- Monitor the Food Safety Management System’s daily maintenance.
- Contribute to the establishment of specifications for raw materials, inputs, and food processing parameters.
- Provide quality awareness training to production workers and other relevant company employees.
- Participate in maintaining the food safety management system.
- Report all issues related to the food safety management system to immediate supervisors and Quality personnel.
- Ensure compliance with local, national, and international laws related to environmental standards.
