Position 1: Material Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

  • Stay updated on advancements in material science, identifying applications that could transform our product lines.
  • Deepen your understanding of emerging material trends and their implications for product design and performance.
  • Design and conduct rigorous testing procedures to evaluate mechanical, chemical, and physical properties using state-of-the-art equipment.
  • Analyze test data to identify potential failure mechanisms and optimize material performance.
  • Take a data-driven approach to material selection, ensuring choices are backed by scientific evidence.
  • Create and implement detailed material specifications that align with product design and manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with design engineers to ensure materials meet strict functional and performance criteria.
  • Engage in the design phase, proposing material solutions that enhance performance, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Identify and qualify potential material suppliers, prioritizing quality, reliability, and cost-efficiency.
  • Work with suppliers to establish robust specifications and quality control processes.
  • Conduct or oversee supplier audits to ensure compliance with quality standards and consistent material performance.
  • Write clear technical reports documenting research findings, test results, and material recommendations.
  • Maintain up-to-date material data sheets and specifications for internal use.
  • Communicate complex technical information effectively to engineers, designers, and other stakeholders.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Material Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in material engineering, demonstrating successful material selection and integration in product development.
  • Strong understanding of material properties, testing methodologies, and failure analysis techniques.

Position 2: Senior Import Officer

Role Overview: As a Senior Import Officer, you’ll be an integral part of our dynamic team, responsible for managing and optimizing our import operations to support our business objectives. Your expertise will help ensure that purchases align with company interests and are executed efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that purchases serve the best interests of the company.
  • Submit proforma invoices to banks and follow up on foreign currency approvals.
  • Prepare banking documents for L/C, CAD, and TT applications.
  • Monitor fund availability for foreign purchases.
  • Organize and compile approved purchase orders and related banking documents for suppliers.
  • Verify the accuracy of shipping documents and maintain records of all import-related activities.
  • Collect bank advice for submission to the finance department.
  • Organize shipping documents and freight invoices for the transit and forwarding section.
  • Follow up to ensure timely payments to suppliers.
  • Ensure proper handling of Djibouti transit payments and related documentation.
  • Maintain accurate cost records for import operations.
  • Ensure the accuracy of shipping documents.
  • Prepare draft messages for supplier communications for approval.
  • Participate in training programs to enhance job-related skills.
  • Prepare periodic reports for the Import Division Head.
  • Source and analyze pricing in the internal market.
  • Keep updated on international market data, preferred suppliers, and material lists.
  • Calculate accurate pricing for imported items at the site level.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Procurement & Supply Management, or a related field.
  • 6 years of relevant experience, particularly in the import sector.
