Position: Lead Community Facilitator

Qualifications

A. Education/Training

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in Social Science, Agriculture, Food Security, Disaster Risk Management, Climate Change, Community Development, or related fields.
  • Desired: Bachelor’s degree focused on community capacity development in the PSNP context.

B. Experience

  • Required: 2-4 years of experience in community capacity development, grassroots facilitation, partnerships, or accountability.
  • Desired: Interdisciplinary experience in various programs (Natural Resource Management, Livelihood Promotion, WaSH, Financial Services, Private Sector Engagement) and prior involvement in PSNP, food security programs, RFSA, or agricultural extension.

C. Technical Skills

  • Required:
    • Strong planning, organizational, analytical, and decision-making abilities.
    • Proficient verbal and written communication in English, Amharic, and Afaan Oromo.
    • Excellent analytical skills regarding partnerships and stakeholder dynamics, with a commitment to social justice and accountability.
    • Effective interpersonal skills, maturity, intuition, tact, and a strong sense of responsibility.
    • Deep understanding of watershed contributions to livelihoods in the PSNP context.
    • Ability to collaborate with individuals from diverse educational, cultural, and technical backgrounds.
    • Previous experience in similar NGOs.
    • Ability to communicate in Afaan Oromo.
  • Desired:
    • Proven community development facilitation skills, sound judgment, and experience in large-scale capacity building.
    • Demonstrated training and capacity development skills in natural resource management, value chain development (forage, livestock, vegetables, poultry), and financial access.
    • Knowledge of private sector engagement (agro-dealers, financial service providers, cooperative unions).
    • Expertise in assessment, analysis, and report writing.

D. Competencies:

IV. Contacts/Key Relationships:

  • Establish and maintain productive relationships with technical and operational staff at CARE, as well as with community facilitators, local community, and government institutions, and RFSA staff at the field office level.

V. Working Conditions and Travel Requirements:

  • This position is based in Doba woreda, with potential reassignment within RFSA target communities as determined by the West Hararghe field office and RFSA project management.
